In order to further the dialogue between China and the UK on social innovation after the forum, British Council Chongqing organized two groups to visit the UK at the end of February and early March 2007.

One delegation was made up of 10 people from Civil Affairs Bureau of Chongqing Municipal and District level and is led by the Deputy Director-General of Bureau of Civil Affairs Chongqing Municipality. They aimed to find out the regulations, operations and experience the UK has in this field of Social Welfare, Community development, Social Public Service Management and Social Relief and to share the best practice and innovative ways of dealing with these issues. And after they were back to China they hoped to use what they learnt in the UK as a reference to improve and drive the system construction in Chongqing.

The other delegation was made up of 4 people from Center for the Economy of the Upper Reaches of the Yangtze River, Chongqing Technology and Business University (CTBU). They aimed to look at the reform of economic and social development, environmental protection and urban-rural coordinated development in the UK. They hoped to help establish a social security system for the emigrants from the Three Gorges reservoir area and the low-income population in urban areas after the visit.
