It aims at enabling Chinese readers to have a comprehensive understanding of the third sector in the UK. The publication will present an overview on the history and the current development of NPOs in the UK, their legal and institutional framework, their operations, the UK's experience of governing and supporting the third sector, social enterprise in the UK and etc.

Led by Professor Wang Ming from NGO Research Centre of Tsinghua University, the editorial team also includes authors with governmental, NPO or academic backgrounds. The British Council has commissioned Centre for Civil Society of London School of Economics to do preliminary research to ensure that this publication will present a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of NPOs in the UK.

The book is expected to be published by the end of March 2009. Download of e-version will be available on Discover Social Innovation website in due course.
