What is 51SIM?

51 = "I want" in the Chinese language
SIM = Social Innovation Movement
51SIM is a Charitable Social Innovation Movement in partnership with Beijing New Postcom Equipment Co. Ltd.

Brief introduction

The 51SIM charitable organization aims to help people in poverty-stricken areas by;

1. Promoting innovative education in cooperation with the commonwealth union.
2. Raising funds from National and International public enterprises and institutions, social groups and other organizations.
3. Improving teaching standards, classroom conditions and promoting innovative education by encouraging, tutoring and financing teachers and students.

51SIM Social Innovation Movement

Time: July 12th 2008
Venue: Large-scale nightclub with 1-3000 capacity
Event: The "La Boum de Luxe" party

International DJ's and performers will come together to spread the word of social innovation through the medium of sound which will not only showcase some of Europe and Asia's hottest acts but also raise a substantial sum of money for ongoing charitable projects in China. In this way music will be used as an inspirational tool which will encourage more people to think and act "socially responsible". An audience of around 1000 to 3000 people will have the unique opportunity to contribute to society whilst simultaneously being inspired by thought provoking music. Sponsoring parties, cooperating members and various media groups will join what will be a new movement in Social awareness. This large-scale event has been fully supported by the Olympic Organizing Committee bringing together the elements of Olympic Culture in a new environment.

What is music but a voice of change?

All proceeds from ticket sales or donations on the night will being going towards improving study conditions, teaching methods and repairing and rebuilding disaster struck schools in Sichuan province.

Venue: No 1 CCTV Broadcasting Hall
Event: 51sim TV show / Closing Ceremony of China International Youth Arts Festival

A large-scale 1 hour primetime TV special will be held at the No 1 CCTV Broadcasting Hall with a strong performance lineup and inspiring speeches from special VIP guests. It is the only large-scale carbon neutral green cultural televised festival after June 2008 concluding the closing ceremony of the China International Youth Arts Week broadcasting to 1.4 billion viewers.

The event will consist of speeches, music and videos from National and International artists. The main focus of the participants will be to motivate, educate and demonstrate to the Chinese youth how to be involved, create their own or learn from social innovation initiatives around the world. The impact of this event can be compared with the internationally known TED.com and Liftconference.com.

The 5 key areas of the 51SIM event of this year are: 
-  Education & Innovation 
-  Environment & Future 
-  Poverty & Social Entrepreneurship 
-  Sports & Health 
-  Harmonious Society

On each of these topics 8 speakers are asked to direct the different issues in a relatively short time (5-10 minutes). This ensures the program to be very informative and exciting and creates as well content designed for mobile and online broadcast. The 51SIM event aims to reach millions of people with the message of Social Innovation. There is also CCTV4 nationwide coverage as well as the involvement of other traditional media platforms.
