The Discover Social Innovation website has been re-designed and developed to a brand new site which is more visually attractive, functional and interactive. It will formally go live on 1st November of 2007. We look forward to a dynamic platform for information-sharing and link-building for people who are interested in social innovation. |

The British Council organised a successful social enterprise study visit to the UK for a Chinese delegation from 27 August to 5 September 2007.The delegation consists of governmental officials, street/community workers, NGO representatives, academics and a TV crew from Beijing TV. |

The UK-China Harmonious and Prosperous Community Forum and Community Leader Training were held from 27 to 28 September in Chongqing. It provided a platform for community development experts from the UK and China to share experiences and methodologies, explore the best way to develop communities in their own country, and organise training for more community workers. |

The British Council China and Bijiao (Comparative Economic & Social Systems) Journal will jointly launch Social Enterprise Overview: A UK and China Perspective, which is a special edition to Bijiao, on 31 October 2007. The book will help the readers better understand the concept and the development of social enterprise. |

A few minutes walk from buzzy Old Street in Hoxton Square London is a Victorian primary school now converted into the Hoxton Apprentice, a training restaurant which provides skills and training for homeless and long-term unemployed. It also helps find them a job in the hospitality sector. |
