From 15 to 16 March, the British Council successfully ran the wish tree programme in Dong Hua Shi Nan Li Community and Da Shan Zi Community in Beijing. The two-day event attracted more than 1,000 local residents in total, who were so enthusiastic and happy to join. They wrote down their worries and wishes on a small card and attached it to the big poster of the wishing tree. The atmosphere on site was highly enjoyable.

Phil Hope, Minister for the Third Sector, today announced that a radical proposal to set up a £10million Risk Capital fund for social enterprises will go ahead. The fund will be the first of its kind and will particularly benefit them at the critical start up and early growth stages of developing their business.

The Office of the Third Sector has published a new report which looks into social enterprise networks in England. The research, conducted by Rocket Science, identifies national, regional, sub-regional and local networks and makes recommendations how gaps might be addressed.

Touch Trust is a pioneering charity that was established by its Founder, Dilys Price OBE, in August 1997 in response to the need for touch-based, creative and educational movement opportunities for people with profound and multiple disabilities.

The name of Hua Dan comes from the traditional China Opera and means cute, lively and young female characters. It was founded in Beijing, China in 2004 by Caroline Watson and registered in Hong Kong as a charity in 2006. Its mission is to enable personal, social and economic empowerment of China¡¯s migrant workers through participation in and leadership of inspirational arts-based projects.
