The final winners and amounts of the 500,000 RMB award scheme will be announced during this event on 11 June in Beijing which is expected to attract 100 participants from social enterprises, NGOs, foundations and private sector. A press conference will also be held to formally launch the Skills for Social Entrepreneurs project which will last until 2012.

Commissioned by the British Council, Non-profit Incubator (NPI) conducted a national research on the social enterprises in China in 2008. It also completed a research report which contains theoretic analysis, case study and interviews with the practitioners. The report presents an overview of the background, the history and the current situation of the development of social enterprises in China.

"Sights Unseen" is the result of collaboration between Chinese and international NGOs: Photo Voice (UK), Beijing One Plus One (China), Sight of Emotion (Mexico), OBAC (UK) and China Vision (UK). The main intention of the exhibition is to build a bridge between sighted and non-sighted people, give visually impaired people a new voice and challenge the continued discrimination and marginalization of disabled people in our society.

Dialogue in the Dark has been developed as one of the most successful social enterprises in the world. Through a franchise model, the DID exhibitions have been held in 25 countries and offered business training as well as job opportunities for the blind people, the disabled and disadvantaged people worldwide. From 13 to 20 June 2009, the DID will be brought in mainland China for the first time and named as life leadership workshop.

Social entrepreneur superstar Muhammad Yunus is set to transfer his stardom to the silver screen - if the plan being hatched by the Sundance Institute and the Skoll Foundation for social entrepreneurship comes off. It is one of ten feature-length documentaries that aim to spread the message of social enterprise.

The Social Enterprise Summit was held on 12 May in London. Businesses that provide social value, are to benefit from a wide package of new measures designed to boost social enterprises in creating new jobs, new businesses and delivering public services.
